Map
An exploration screen showing the structure of the market: which stocks move together, and how the signals are distributed over this structure. It has four tabs.
Purpose of the screen and its tabs
What it is: It is the visual counterpart of the user's idea that "stocks are points on a fabric". The Fabric tab shows the map and its animation; the Correlation tab the relationships the map rests on; the Shock simulator where a shock given to one stock spreads according to A · Graph diffusion; and the W · Weighted wave tab shows the companies as points with mass according to their size, connected by sector, shareholding, correlation and live link network links, and how much each company is currently pushed and pulled by its neighbours.
What data feeds it: The map, regime, correlation and engineA results of the latest completed analysis run; for the animation frames, the backtest signals in the signal_daily table.
What it shows: The positions of the stocks are computed once per run and are fixed; in the animation only colours and sizes change.
What can be concluded from it: The map tells you that "nearby stocks move together", but on its own it is not a forecast. The tested result of the fabric idea is in the Lab > A tab.
