World link network
What it is: Every open exchange's followed companies in one network: nodes are companies (coloured by exchange), lines the 600 strongest living links. Orange lines join companies on two different exchanges.
What data feeds it: The link_edge table. Links across exchanges are measured every night at 04:00 by the "World link network" job from the last eight years of daily returns: a day of the American exchanges (Nasdaq, NYSE, Toronto) is paired with the next day of the Asian and European exchanges, because those price the news that comes after they have closed. Each exchange's own daily mean is removed. Links inside an exchange come from that exchange's own scan.
What it shows: The number of exchanges, companies and cross-exchange links, and the network chart. Clicking a company opens its stock screen. The link rules are those of an exchange's own network: 250-trading-day blocks, a correlation t of 2 or more, held in the last two blocks or most of the history.
What can be concluded from it: A cross-exchange link shows that two companies' returns, each cleaned of its own market, have moved together for years: a shared customer, a supply chain, the same commodity or the same investment theme. It does not show direction. Because of the time difference, an effect from the Americas to Asia is caught; an effect from Europe to the Americas within the same day may appear one day late.
